NEW GEN3SYS® CAST IRON INSERTS KEEP THE CUTTING EDGE

AMEC has launched a new range of inserts the high performance GEN3SYS® drilling system, which use a dedicated geometry developed specifically for use when cutting various grades of cast iron to give increased tool life and wear resistance in high productivity environments.

The new geometry incorporates a range of changes from the standard insert including the use of a corner radius to not only help dissipate heat, but also provide greater abrasion resistance to improve tool life.

Available in K20 / C2 grade carbide and coated with AMEC's AM200® PVD coating for outstanding cutting performance, the cast iron inserts covers GEN3SYS 12 Series to 22 Series holders as stocked standard items, with other diameters available as non stock standards giving a complete range from 12mm to 32mm diameter.

To clearly identify the new inserts from the other types in the range all cast iron geometry GEN3SYS inserts have a CI suffix within the part number, which also helps simplify selection and ordering.

Rod Crawford, AMEC Europe's MD explained: " GEN3SYS, just keeps going from strength to strength and this latest addition brings the outstanding performance capabilities of the range into a new production environment by enabling it to be used on all types of SG and grey irons. It also means that manufacturers already using GEN3SYS for drilling steels can now easily adapt their tooling for use on cast iron, simply by changing the insert and retain the performance accuracy and finish for which GEN3SYS is now well known."
