AMEC's comprehensive reamer range has been designed to not only meet requirements of dimensional accuracy and surface finish for precision hole machining, but also to deliver high productivity.
Including fixed, expandable and modular mandrel reamers, the range covers hole diameters from 5.8mm to 200.6mm and incorporate integral coolant ports in three configurations to provide optimum coolant flow for both through and blind holes.
All reamers in the range use brazed carbide cutting edges, incorporating various coatings to suit specific work piece materials and maintain optimum performance, accuracy and finish. Also, six different 'lead in' geometries can be specified, dependent on whether an integral expanding reamer or modular cutting ring type is required.
Standard speed reamers are designed with straight flutes, whilst high speed and high feed reamers use left handed helical flutes with optional TiN, TiCN or TiAlN coatings to enable high surface speeds and feed rates to be used. A special PKD reamer for aluminium is also offered as part of the range, allowing surface speeds of up to 1500m/min to be utilised.
All AMEC expanding reamers, typically, allow an expansion of around 1% of the reamer's diameter to allow for flexibility in setting or enable tool life to be extended by expanding the worn cutting head to the original diameter. Adjustment on all reamers is simple to carry out and in most cases just requires a single Allen key.
An array of standard shank styles and adaptors are provided within the range, together with the option for specifying custom order designs to meet specific requirements. Depending upon the model chosen, the reamer range provides a maximum reaming depth of up to 245mm.
