FAQ

Which product would you recommend for drilling?

The full T-A® and GEN3SYS® high penetration drilling systems can be viewed on our downloadable Product Selector. By inputting your information, it will automatically recommend the best drill available for your application.

What are the T-A "Half Series Holders" and how can they help me?

They offer a significantly increased level of rigidity during use, particularly prevalent when using carbide.

Do I need a Rotary Coolant Adaptor (RCA)?

If the tool being used has a Morse Taper, is carrying out a rotating application and coolant flow is from an external line, then a Rotary Coolant Adaptor is required.

What is the difference between T-A® and High Performance Spade Drills?

T-A® drills, including the inserts and holders are a unique design and belong exclusively to AMEC whilst the term 'High Performance Spade Drills' is interchangeable with all manufacturers of universal style holders.

Can T-A® drills offer a more effective drilling solution than Standard HSS Twist Drills?

Yes, our T-A® range can not only drill much faster than standard HSS Twist Drills, with correspondingly improved penetration rates, but can also run at a wider variety of speed and feed rates, which best utilise the customers' machine capacity.

What is the cut off time to ship an order same day?

The cut off time is 15.45 hours (UK Time) before which we can guarantee shipment of orders in stock.

Who is my local Engineer?

Can I order by using my credit card?

Yes, we are pleased to accept credit card payments, we can accept Visa, MasterCard, Delta and American Express.

Are T-A® drills suitable for Coring applications?

AMEC T-A® drills are centre cutting drills and designed to drill from solid material. However, we also produce a Coring drill specifically for opening an existing drilled hole. A Coring drill catalogue will be sent to you

Is a pecking cycle recommended for AMEC drills?

Yes, peck drilling can be utilised if necessary. A lack of chip control or difficulties with chip evacuation due to low coolant pressure indicates that a peck cycle in the drilling is necessary.

Does AMEC offer a drill to cut holes with diameters larger than 114mm?

Yes, we also offer the High Performance and Universal drill system, which will drill diameters up to 216mm.

Does AMEC offer a 'guaranteed test'

Yes. A request form for a Guaranteed Application can be found in the T-A®, GEN3SYS® and Thread mill catalogues.
